Diode-pumped narrow linewidth multi-kW metalized Yb fiber amplifier
We investigate high brightness pumping of a multi-kW Yb fiber amplifier in a bi-directional pumping configuration. Each pump outputs 2 kW in a 200 μm, 0.2 NA multi-mode fiber. Gold-coated specialty gain fibers, with 17 m MFD and 5-dB/meter pump absorption, have been developed. The maximum fiber amplifier output power is 3.1 kW, limited by multi-mode instability, with 90% O-O efficiency 12 GHz ...
متن کاملLinewidth-broadened Fabry–Perot cavities within future gravitational wave detectors
The bandwidth of LIGO-like terrestrial interferometric gravitational wave detectors is set by the pole of the Fabry–Perot cavities within the arms of the Michelson interferometer. This constraint arises because the gain of gravitational wave-induced signal sidebands is limited to frequencies within the linewidth of the cavities. The nature of standard Fabry–Perot cavities is such that one canno...
متن کاملFundamental mode, single-frequency laser amplifier for gravitational wave detectors.
An amplifier design for efficient amplification of linearly polarized fundamental mode lasers is presented. The concept was verified by amplifying single-frequency input powers from 1 W to 20 W into output power ranges of 35 W up to 65 W. Beam quality measurements with a mode-analyzer cavity showed only minor beam quality degradation due to the amplification process.
متن کاملSpherical Gravitational Wave Detectors
Resonant bar gravitational wave detectors have improved greatly over the last 40 years but are currently completely outperformed by laser interferometer detectors. Spherical detector configuration has several advantages over conventional bar detectors and can be considered as the next generation of resonant gravitational wave antenna. In this report, I will give a brief introduction to gravitat...

uncertainty from having a discrete spacetime has been reduced by a factor of three. This correspondingly reduces the error on extrapolating from the unphysical lattice world to the real world. Until now, this uncertainty has been a problem for the charm quark because its relatively large mass gives it a shortwavelength quantum field that can ‘see’ the lattice spacing. This improvement also help...
